Thermostat Tips
Most digital thermostats require batteries to operate and some may last up to two years. Many battery-operated digital thermostats come with a battery power-level indicator, that at the very least, alerts users to when the battery should be replaced. However, some thermostat brands, such as Nest and Ecobee, do not require batteries at all to operate.
Using programmable digital thermostats make life easier, they can save you money, and they prolong the life of your A/C unit. Once programmed, they automatically vary the temperature at your home or place of business, based on your needs. For example, if you are not at home (because of school or work), there is no reason to keep the house cool.
Manufacturers estimate annual savings between 15% and 30% on your electric bill when using a digital and programmable thermostat. Another benefit of using these thermostats is the reduction in wear and tear on your A/C unit because it doesn’t have to work as much or as hard.
